Sometimes following Jesus feels less like a finished masterpiece and more like a construction zone—messy, noisy, and uncomfortable. But what if that’s exactly where God does His best work?
In the Midst of Spiritual Renovations
1. Transformation Is a Process, Not a Moment
Just like home renovations, spiritual transformation takes time, effort, and often discomfort. While God can bring instant change in some areas, much of our growth happens gradually as He works deep within us. He lovingly takes us as we are, but He doesn’t leave us there (Philippians 1:6). The messiness of “demo day” in our lives is often the beginning of something beautiful.
2. God Works from the Inside Out
Our culture focuses heavily on outward appearance and quick fixes, but God’s priority is the heart. He strengthens us “with power through His Spirit in the inner being” (Ephesians 3:16). Real, lasting change begins internally—reshaping our thoughts, healing wounds, and transforming our character so that our outward life reflects His work within (2 Corinthians 4:16).
3. Christ Desires to Dwell, Not Just Visit
God isn’t interested in temporary touch-ups—He wants to make His home in us. Paul reminds us that Christ desires to “dwell in your hearts through faith” (Ephesians 3:17). This means surrendering every room of our hearts, even the hidden or locked areas, and allowing Him full access to make renovations according to His perfect design.
4. Rooted in Love, Growing in Understanding
As God renovates our hearts, He grounds us in His love—a love that is vast beyond comprehension. We are invited to grasp “the width and length and height and depth” of Christ’s love (Ephesians 3:18–19). This love not only fills us but reshapes how we relate to others, calling us to extend grace, compassion, and forgiveness just as we have received.
5. Trust the Master Architect
We may not always understand what God is doing in the process, but we can trust His vision. He is “able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20). Our role is not to control the renovations, but to surrender to it—allowing the Holy Spirit to complete the work He has begun.
Reflection:
Are there areas of your life where God is inviting you to let Him in more deeply? True transformation begins with surrender. As we yield to the Master Architect, we can trust that every stage—even the messy ones—is leading to something far greater than we could imagine.
