Torch Your Plough

Rev Martin Chipp-Smith

Faith isn’t just something we believe—it’s something we live.
Rev Martin Chipp-Smith challenges us to move beyond surface-level Christianity and step into a life that is truly shaped and transformed by Jesus.

Torch Your Plough

Transformation Begins with Surrender

True change doesn’t start with behavior—it starts with surrender. When you torch your plough, you fully yield your life to God, and He begins a work in you that reshapes your desires, priorities, and direction.

Key Thought: You can’t experience transformation without surrendering control.

  • Romans 12:1 – “Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.”
  • Proverbs 3:5–6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart… and He will make your paths straight.”
Renewal Happens in the Mind

Lasting transformation requires a renewed mind. The way we think shapes the way we live, and God calls us to replace old patterns with His truth. When you torch your plough, there is no way of going back to your former ways.

Key Thought: Changed thinking leads to a changed life.

  • Romans 12:2 – “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
  • 2 Corinthians 10:5 – “Take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
Faith Must Be Lived, Not Just Believed

Faith isn’t just something we profess—it’s something we practice daily. A transformed life is visible in our actions, choices, and obedience to God’s Word.

Key Thought: Genuine faith produces visible fruit.

  • James 1:22 – “Do not merely listen to the word… Do what it says.”
  • Galatians 5:22–23 – “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace…”
God Works Through Us to Impact Others

Transformation isn’t just for us—it ought to flow through us. As we grow in Christ, God uses our lives to encourage, serve, and point others to Him.

Key Thought: A transformed life becomes a testimony.

  • Matthew 5:16 – “Let your light shine before others…”
  • 2 Corinthians 5:20 – “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors.”
Stay Rooted to Continue Growing

Spiritual growth is not a one-time event but a lifelong journey. Staying connected to God through prayer, His Word, and community keeps us grounded and growing.

Key Thought: Consistency with God sustains transformation.

  • John 15:5 – “If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.”
  • Colossians 2:6–7 – “Continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him.”
Final Encouragement

God is not just calling you to believe in Him—He’s calling you to be changed by Him. As you surrender, renew your mind, and live out your faith, you’ll experience the kind of transformation that not only changes your life—but impacts the world around you.
