It is the second Sunday of Advent, and the theme for the week is peace. There are two distinct types of peace: outward peace and inward spiritual peace. The problem with outward peace is how temporary it is. Inward peace, on the other hand, gives you a deep sense of personal well-being, freedom from guilt, hostility, and anxiety.
God’s peace is inward and spiritual, residing in the heart, not dependent on environmental or outward conditions. As stated in John 16:33, Jesus provides peace by changing an individual’s internal disposition to cope with circumstances, rather than changing the circumstances themselves. Philippians 4:7 guarantees this spiritual peace. Ultimately, peace with God changes how individuals experience and process difficulty, allowing them to face life’s challenges differently.
